A short letter of words of wisdom and appreciation from Sheikh Khalid Al-Romaih
the Secretary General of the International Association for New Muslims to the
people who attended the Annual Dinner in London on the 10th of October 2004
entitled “At the Downing of Ramadan” Which consisted of special Islamic stalls
and exhibitions:
Dear Brothers
Assalamu Alaikum….
Thank you for coming to the first meeting of the international association for
new Muslims in the Rabita (Muslim World League) headquarters. I am very happy to
be here and I hope we will all benefit from this meeting.
This association is a service to all of you. We want it to help new Muslims to
become better Muslim. Islam is a religion that tells people to love other people
and to help other people. As Muslims, we must try to make the place we live in
pleasing to Allah. So when you become Muslims think of ways of how to make the
society you live in a better place.
Many of you have different skills, and have worked or studied in a very good
place and you have many ideas. Let us use these ideas to make a better place.
Islam is a religion of Love and peace. When we say this, we mean that we love
good for everyone and we wish that everyone around will become better. As
Muslims let us try to do this, and show people what is right through our own
example. Let us teach people what being a Muslim means and why being a Muslim is
good for the society we live in.
Our religion also teaches us to be helpful and try to improve our families and
our societies. Becoming a Muslim does not change our social identity and does
not make us less British than we were. In fact it makes us better citizens. We
remain true to our identity and we also love our country even more. It is where
we have our families and where we live.
My dear brothers; the International Association for New Muslims is our
association. If you have any suggestions please tell me and if you have any
ideas then please discuss them. We all want to work together to help each other
and make our lives better.
Jazakum Allahu Khair
Wassalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatahu
