Lately, the International
Association for New Muslims (IANM), which comes under the auspices of
the Muslim World League, held a summer camp for the new Muslims at the
Borås resort, with joint cooperation with the Islamiska Informations
Föreningen i Göteborg.
More than forty Swedish families that recently embraced Islam
participated in this camp, in addition to some Muslim migrants living in
Sweden.
The camp included many Islamic activities, having invited many thinkers
and Muslim scholars, who participated by delivering lectures, as
follows:
· In the beginning, his honour daiyah Masroor from the UK delivered two
lectures on the challenges new Muslims face, and how these challenges
should be dealt with in the midst of this contemporary era. After the
lectures, sheikh Ajmal answered the posed questions.
· Also, the Swedish daiyah Daniel Strijdsman, who’s one of the best
young daiyahs in Sweden and speaks seven languages (one of which is
Arabic), delivered two lectures. He talked about the duties upon new
Muslims. His other lecture was entitled ‘Why Islam?’. He replied to the
audience’s questions on this matter.
· As for the Imam of the Islamic League of Göteborg sheikh daiyah Abdul-Rasheed
Muhammad, who’s one of those who memorised the entire Qur’an, he led the
Friday prayer, comprised of the participating audience. He delivered the
two sermons, providing important advice to all the new Muslims.
· Also professor Matias Kardel, who is a teacher of comparative
religious studies and a lecturer at Uppsala University and sympathises
with Muslims, participated. During his lecture, he talked about the
history of Islam in Sweden and its aspirations.
· Also, sheikh daiyah Saleh Malaekah, who is a prominent daiyah and a
lecturer at numerous Sweden institutions, delivered a lecture entitled
‘The Trip to the Hereafter’.
· Head of both the Islamiska Informations Föreningen i Göteborg and this
camp, Mr. Ahmed Al-Mofty, delivered two lectures entitled ‘How to Have
Dialogue with non-Muslims’ and ‘The Necessity of Introducing Islam (i.e.
dawah) and the Reward of Doing So’.
All of these educational programs gained the approval of those
participating in the camp, having gained more knowledge about their
Religion, Islam, via the thinkers, scholars and specialists in dawah
affairs, and called for these camps organised to educate new Muslims
about their Religion to be continuously held. During this occasion they
directed their gratitude to the IANM, having sponsored this camp for the
new Muslims of Sweden.
It’s worth mentioning that the IANM holds numerous conventions and camps
across Europe throughout the year, during which new Muslims meet with a
panel of prominent scholars and daiyahs, who become acquainted with the
new Muslims’ views and suggestions, and answer their inquiries.
