With the joint cooperation of the General Muslim Congregation Society of
Belgium, the International Association for New Muslims (IANM), which
comes under the auspices of the Muslim World League, recently held the
New Muslim Ladies Convention in Sankt Nikolas, a city which lies 70km
away from the capital Brussels. More than six hundred 600 new Muslim
sisters, along with their relatives, participated in this convention.
Eleven ladies embraced Islam during the convention, in the midst of all
the Muslim sisters chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ and ‘La ilaha illa Allah’ for
this spectacular event.
Also, the convention was packed with various, numerous events, one of
which was the workshops, during which matters concerning Muslim ladies
in Belgium were discussed, such as teaching them about prayer, how to
deal with relatives, and making them aware of the dress code of Islam
(i.e. hijab).
During the convention, Muslim mothers were honoured and gifts were
distributed amongst Muslim ladies as a sign of support. The head of the
General Muslim Congregation Society of Belgium Mr. Nordin Taouil
delivered a speech, during which he explained the activities of the IANM
in serving new Muslims, emphasising the aims of these conventions held
by the IANM in several European countries, some of which are: getting
new Muslims in Europe to become acquainted with one another; teaching
new Muslims Islamic knowledge by having short courses in the Prophet’s
biography, ritual worship and morals; and preparing new Muslims to
positively integrate into their respective societies by having
symposiums about the aspects of tolerance in Islamic ideology.
Dr. Amal, a delegate of the Islam Presentation Committee of Kuwait,
delivered a fruitful lecture on the topic of supporting the new Muslim
ladies of Belgium and the role of Islamic organisations in sponsoring
and supporting these ladies. She promised to establish a centre in
Belgium to serve as a haven for the new Muslim ladies of Belgium.
