The
head office of the Muslim World League has sent a
humane appeal to the United Nations regarding the
tragedies caused by the Israeli aggression against
Gaza. In the appeal, the Muslim World League calls
on the United Nations to take swift measures in
stopping the Israeli aggression against the
population of Gaza who have been facing an extensive
criminal holocaust, an act prohibited by all
religions and international laws, and condemned by
all principles and conventions of human rights
issued by the United Nations.
His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Muslim
World League Dr. Abdullah Abdul-Muhsin Al-Turky
called upon the Secretary-General of the United
Nations in a written appeal for the United Nations
to take action in saving the Palestinian people of
Gaza from this collective punishment that which
comprises of the killing of civilians, demolishing
neighbourhoods populated with civilians, and
bombarding masjids, schools, medical complexes,
markets, fuel cisterns and power generators. His
Excellency noted that the Israeli bombardment of
civilian homes has killed entire families. The
number of those whom Israel killed with its
devastating weapons count to more than 500 martyrs,
while the injuries reach almost 3,000.
In his appeal, Dr. Al-Turky mentioned about the
extreme suffering which has befallen the population
of Gaza, a population Israel strives to starve,
prevent medicine from, expose to the bitter cold of
the winter by preventing fuel and cutting off the
electrical supply from Gaza city and its hospitals,
an action which has caused great death toll amongst
the ill and wounded.
In his appeal, Dr. Al-Turky emphasised that Israel
has no respect for religious values, having
devastated twelve masjids in Gaza, after bombarding
them with a torrent of missiles and incendiary
bombs, killing the worshippers therein, destroying
its contents and burning the copies of the Holy
Qur'an therein. His Excellency pointed out that
international conventions prohibit attacking places
of worship.
Dr. Al-Turky requested from the Secretary-General of
the United Nations to declare the UN’s legal stance
in regards to the war crimes Israel is perpetrating
against Gaza, and that the international community
is obliged to deter Israel and stop it from going
forward with this criminal aggression, which his
Excellency described as one of the most horrendous
kinds of terrorism humankind has witnessed.
